The Northern Michigan Fire Collaborative announces the upcoming offering of Firefighter Training and Introduction to Fire Behavior. These are required National Wildfire Coordinating Group courses to obtain Firefighter Type 2, Prescribed Fire Crew Member, and/or as a Michigan Certified Prescribed Burn Manager.

This in-person class covers all S130 material, including the field day & S190. It will be hosted at the USFS office in Wellston, MI from April 6 -10, 2026. The program cost of $250 includes materials and meals for Tuesday - Thursday.
